Room 311….. Don’t Do It unless you like elevators and lack of sleep

The room itself was decent. Not “Marriott” quality to me but decent. Bathroom was extremely small and you could barely close the door after entering. The breakfast was awful. We had a 2 queen suite for 3 ladies to visit the Houston Rodeo. They gave us room 311. If you get that room just ask for a new room before you leave the front desk! The room is practically attached to the elevator. Imagine trying to sleep and your bed is right at the elevator so all you hear ALL NIGHT is the elevator. We tried asking for a new room the next day but they told us we could only switch right after checkin(how would we know the elevator was an issue in the first few hours if we weren’t there until the evening). I mean they apologized for the inconvenience but the 3 of us didn’t get any sleep for a full 4 night stay! We ended up going to a friends room on the first floor to take naps if we got too tired to enjoy the events for the day. It was terrible, no exaggeration.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the past five plus years. It has always been my “go to” hotel when I have late night arrivals or early departures. The staff has been friendly, the shuttle efficient and the hotel clean. If by chance we were there in the late afternoon, we always loved the warm chocolate chip cookie, freshly baked and given with a smile. Also, enjoyed a complimentary bottle of water. This visit was totally different. As a loyal Marriott Gold member, the greeting we got was barely a hello. We were given the type of room we requested, a king bed and sofa. The tub had either rust or blood on the bottom. We asked for a different room and the request was honored, but in a room with two double beds. We agreed and asked if we could have some kind of monetary compensation for the difference in room type and were given a flat NO! Asking for a quiet spot, we were given a room closest to the elevator. We got to hear everyone waiting in the vestibule for the elevator as well as everyone getting off. The wallpaper was peeling in the room and the carpet was stained in several places. The elevator panel was so dirty, we used it elbows to push the buttons. This hotel needs a huge sprucing up of the physical property as well as the staff. It is not owned by Marriott, but is under the brand name of Marriott. The standards need to be elevated to follow Marriott standards. I am hoping to attach pictures to validate my claims.

We stayed before our cruise everything was ok friendly staff ... was told not to walk around outside. Ok now let's talk about after the cruise. The check-in girl was awful so rude not a hello or welcome. First thing she said to me was "as I told the person in front of you we might not have rooms ready yet". And that was fine with us we could wait. Then I asked to have adjoining rooms as I booked 2. Was told then did have them hmmm we had one a week ago was willing to wait for 2 together as we were gonna have to find stuff to do in hotel for the day because the area isn't safe per locals. Still couldn't happen the. Ask to at least be near each other well we got 104 and 403. Then let's talk about the noise there was a loud (shake the building) radio from 7p-1a. And then about 9pm a sound that was like a machine gun went on for over a hour . Very sleepless night!!

Disappointed that this is a Marriott Property! The bathroom was soooo small that if you turned around in it you would hurt yourself & it needed updating The breakfast was Blahhh and cold. The shuttle was disgusting. And the microwave was not in English, REALLY!!??? As a Titanium Member I expect better.

This Hotel is older and in need of a much needed renovation. This could easily be a 5 star Hotel. Close to the airport with great shuttle service. Hotel is showing its age. Rooms are very noisy. Air-conditioning is very loud, but works very well for cooling. Beds need to be replaced. Rooms have a oder to them. Hotel is not in a great area so you have to be careful if your off the property. Internet works great. Hotel staff try very hard to make you feel welcome despite the aging property.
